Monster Show 6!

Every year around this time Domy Books here in Austin, as well as their Houston location, put together one of the best and funnest group shows I have ever been a part of.   This Monster themed show has some great artists from all over and it's right before Halloween so almost everyone that attends is dressed up.  If you live in Austin or Houston you should definitely be there!

You can see the full lineup of artists right over HERE

Here are the pieces I just finished for the show:

"What Are You?"
10" x 10" oil and ink on panel

"She Raised It As Her Own"

The Mistress Of The Wetlands screenprint now available

Now available on my Etsy shop, a limited edition, one color (dark greenish brown) screenprint on 90lb (250 gsm) 100% cotton Fawn Stonehenge paper. I hand stained each sheet of paper with coffee and then hand tore each sheet to an 11" x 14" easily frameable size before hand pulling the print. Each print is unique in that each one has its own coffee stained patterns and the hand tearing leaves nice varying rough edges. Each print is signed and numbered in a limited edition of only 25.

You can see my whole process here

3 New Pieces

I just finished these three new oil pieces on oval panels.  I guess it's kind of a series about people who have pet's that are similar to their names.  Maybe they thought it was fate that they were named so and thought they were destined to have these pets, and maybe now they are regretting that logic.

" Aunt Hopus"
oil and ink on 5 3/4" x 7 3/4" panel

 "Gail"
oil and ink on 5 3/4" x 7 3/4" panel

Massachusetts Audubon

I recently had the pleasure of working on an add campaign for the Massachusetts Audubon Society. My college roommate works as a designer for Full Contact Advertising and when they got the client he convinced them to hire an illustrator (thanks Kevin!). I grew up in rural Massachusetts and spent a whole bunch of my childhood roaming about different Audubon wildlife sanctuaries and I really treasure those memories so it was a real honor to be a part of this project.

Basically my job was to illustrate different landscapes and animals in different states of movement and then the guys at Full Contact would animate them. It was a little different than the work I have been doing because everything had to be scientifically accurate, but it was a nice change of pace.
Here are some of my sketches of a Ruby Throated Hummingbird in flight:

And here is the final animation

Here are some more sketches for the Monarch Butterfly

...and the final animation

You can see them all on the Mass Audubon website right HERE

Portugal. The Man poster

I just finished this painting and decided to make it into a poster for this contest. You can see it, and all the other submissions right over HERE.
